What is Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)? 

Platelet-rich fibrin has a high concentration of your body’s healing proteins and natural growth factors to rejuvenate skin, treat hair loss, and speed recovery. PRF encourages collagen production, treats acne scaring, rejuvenates skin, stimulates hair growth, removes fine wrinkles, and tightens loose skin. 

In order to obtain PRF, a small sample of blood is collected (the same way as in a blood lab) and is immediately placed in a centrifuge to concentrate cells and growth factors. 

Microneedling

Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. At Trust Family Dental, we use the DermaPen for microneedling. It uses a one-time-use sterile needle tip that contains 12 tiny microneedles to create micropunctures and microchannels in the skin. The channels are then filled with PRF to further enhance skin regeneration. 

Microneedling is minimally invasive with downtime of less than 24 hours. The skin will appear red (similar to a mild sunburn) for 24-48 hours and immediately feel tighter. Collagen production will reach its peak in 2-4 weeks and will continue for up to 6 months.
